Six-Year-Old Boy Struck and Killed in Hit
and Run Accident by City Bus Driver
Recovers $1 Million

A six-year-old Chicago boy was crossing a busy street when he was struck and killed by an out of service CTA bus returning to its repair barn. The driver quickly left the scene of the accident but was followed by a driver that had witnessed the accident, who later reported the incident to the police.

During the subsequent lawsuit filed by the Scanlan Law Group, the driver initially denied his role in the tragedy, but later admitted his responsibility and claimed that he had fled the scene of the accident out of fear that he would have been attacked by angry neighborhood residents who had witnessed the accident. Nevertheless, the Chicago Transit Authority agreed to settle the case before trial for $1 million.
